In Rio, Renata discovers more than she bargained for in her quest to uncover the truth of who abandoned whom. She is continually tossed about by her undead grandmother and a semi-invisible uncle as they choreograph the ultimate dance of mother and daughter, both of whom must confront their dreams before they can ever attempt to confront each other. Imaginations run wild in this strangely beautiful and funny story loosely based on Uppal’s critically acclaimed memoir, Projection: Encounters with My Runaway Mother, a finalist for both the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction and the Governor General’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction.

The theatrical journey into the deep, dark and delirious woods of Wajdi Mouawad's Forests begins with a real mind-boggler: How did a missing skull fragment from a woman murdered in a Nazi concentration camp end up embedded in the brain of a recently deceased Québécoise? Over the course of the play, the daughter of deceased Aimée Lambert, 16-year-old Loup, searches for an answer to this question with the help of her trusty paleontologist guide, Douglas Dupontel.

A terrorist attack in Jerusalem puts Eitan, a young Israeli-German genetic researcher, in a coma, while his girlfriend Wahida, an Moroccan graduate student, is left to uncover his family secret that brought them to Israel in the first place. Since Eitan’s parents erupted at a Passover meal when they realized Wahida was not Jewish, he has harboured a suspicion about his heritage that, if true, could change everything. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict hits close to home as his straight-laced family is forced to confront everything they know about their identities.
